News from prisons for January–April 2026

February.

Artsiom Salavej was not released. As we have learned, in October 2025 he was convicted under Article 411 of the Criminal Code—“malicious disobedience to prison authorities”—and sentenced to an additional year of imprisonment. After the verdict under Article 411 was handed down, Artsiom was transferred to Penal Colony No. 20.

March.

Anarchists from the “Black Nightingales” group were added to the list of terrorists and transferred to penal colonies. In late February, the KGB updated the “List of Persons Involved in Terrorist Activities” and included Siarhei Zhyhaliou, Trafim Barysau, Dzmitry Zakharoshka, Aliaksandra Pulinovich, and Maria Misiuk, who was released last November. On February 6, the “Supreme Court” considered the appeal in the “Black Nightingales” case; the sentences were upheld. The convicts were transferred to penal colonies.

Anarchist Aliaksandr Kazlianka and Pavel Shpetny, who no longer identifies himself as an anarchist, have been deported to Lithuania after being convicted in the case involving an “international criminal organization of anarchists.” Maryia Rabkova, who was convicted in the same case, has also been released.

Mikita Dranets was sentenced to an additional year in prison. The anarchist was due to be released in early March of this year upon completion of his six-year prison term. However, in January, Mikita stood trial under Article 411 of the Criminal Code for “malicious disobedience toward prison authorities,” resulting in an additional year being added to his sentence.
Prior to this, the anarchist had spent at least four months in a solitary confinement cell at Penal Colony No. 17.

April.

The father of Siarhei Zhyhaliou, who was convicted in the “Black Nightingales” case, recorded a video addressed to the dictator in which he stated that the “investigators” in the case had beaten the detained anarchists and threatened them with weapons, demanding that they testify against themselves and their comrades.
