From 25 March there are no letters from Aliaksandr Frantskevich*. His mother visited an office of a head of the penal colony. There, the chief jailer told her that Aliaksandr is constantly in the punishment isolation cell where writing and receiving letters are not permitted. The prison administration placed Aliaksandr into the punishment isolation since he arrived to this institution. Aliaksandr declared that he is “not going to work for the administration of the colony, for terrorists and murderers.” Thus, Aliaksandr spent all April and all May in punishment isolation. He also celebrated his birthday there.
In early May, Dzmitry Rezanovich spent 8 days in a punishment isolation cell.
On 3 May, after almost 2 months in a punishment isolation cell, Dzmitry Dubouski was placed for 3 months into a cell-type premises. Placement into a cell-type premises is also a kind of punishment for alleged transgressions of the prison rules. While under a very restrictive prison regime, he is now less restricted than in the isolation. Finally he was able to write a letter to his sister, and in this way we know about his whereabouts.
On 21 May, the Day of Belarusian Political Prisoners took place. in may cities around the world Belarusian diaspora held actions of solidarity with prisoners. Anarchists participated in these events as well, both in solidarity with all political prisoners and in order to bring attention to imprisoned anarchists (see the photo).
Brothers Dzianis Pietukh and Dzmitry Pietukh, musicians from a punk band faceOFF, were detained on 22 May in Minsk. Their apartment was raided, and their devices seized. Next day, faceOFF’s guitarist Aliaksiej was detained. On 25 May it became known that a court arrested Dzianis and Dzmitry for 15 days, and Aliaksiej – for 13 days.
In May, mother of a political prisoner Anastasia Kukhta died. The prison administration did not allow Anastasia to attend the funeral, which, unfortunately, is a usual practice in present-day Belarus.
