Timur Pipiya was born on January 16, 1990 lived in Minsk and worked in the trucking industry. He is fond of football and was an active fan of the MTZ-RIPO club.

He reads books on psychology and fiction, writes poetry and is very fond of going to the movies.

Political views

Timur was a fan of the MTZ club, which in football circles is associated with the position of anti-fascism. He shares anti-fascist views.

Detention and conviction

On 23 September a criminal case was brought against Timur on suspicion of organizing mass riots. He was detained on 25 September in Minsk near Aerodromnaya Street, when he was waiting for his partner to go to work with him.

During the detention he was tortured and threatened with reprisals against his relatives. After he was detained, they put Timur face down on the floor of a minibus, where he was beaten with hands and tasered for two hours, told him what he had to say during the interrogation and threatened him that he would be tortured again in the next few hours if he refused to talk.

The operational interrogation on January 6 also took place under pressure. The officer reminded Timur that his sister was still at large and could end up in jail.

Under torture, Timur incriminated himself, but at subsequent interrogations he did not admit guilt and refused to testify. In court he noted that the initial testimony was given under torture and pressure, and the conversations with the police officers were held without the participation of a lawyer.

Timur was compelled to identify his friend, but he refused to do so. Also during the operational interrogation Timur said that he wanted the other defendants to receive the minimum term.
The case materials contained Timur’s personal correspondence and the recordings of his phone calls, i.e. his phone was tapped several months before the detention.

At the trial Timur pleaded not guilty to articles Participation in mass disorder and Violence or threatening to use violence against an officer of internal affairs bodies, but pleaded guilty to the full extent to article Organizing and preparing actions that grossly violate public order.

Verdict

Judge Svetlana Bondarenko sentenced him to 6 years, 3 months and 2 days in a high-security penal colony.

Conditions of detention

During the trial, Timur, as well as the other participants of the anti-fascist case, were put on preventive detention in connection with the accusation of violence against a police officer. Therefore, they were escorted and left in court handcuffed, with their hands behind their backs.
The defense requested that the hands be handcuffed at least in front, because the guys could not even drink. But despite the unbearable heat, the judge and the guards ignored the demands.

Upon arrival at the colony, Timur was deprived of his parcels for four months because of preventive checks. Also, he was not allowed to receive letters and receive visits from his relatives. The colony administration is trying to isolate him completely; they won’t even let a lawyer see him. All this negatively affects his psychological state.

Relatives

Timur has an eight-year-old daughter, a sister, and a mother who are waiting for him to be released.

He writes:

I can't write these stupid letters. I'm so bored I want to howl... I know that justice and truth will soon be served, but my head is already spinning from everything =)
