Jauhen Vas’kovich put on watch list

Jauhen Vas’kovich has been put on special watch list.

He wrote this in a letter to his parents.

The reason was his status of an escape-risk prisoner inclined to violence.

The political prisoner says he was in a punishment cell from July 11 to July 21 for falling asleep during the day. “It obvious that pressure on Jauhen and other political prisoners increases,” BCD executive secretary Dzyanis Sadouski noted.

Vas’kovich says he works in prison: he removes elastic bands from clothes before recycling. “My work will make our economy grow,” Jauhen jokes.

The political prisoner writes people in mufti have recently visited him. They offered to apply for a pardon, but he refused because he denies his guilt. He stopped receiving even registered mail receipts. He receives letters only from his parents.

The political prisoner remains optimistic and has no problems with health.

Jauhen Vas’kovich was detained on January 17, 2011 in Mahilou after a picket of solidarity with political prisoners.  He was accused of attacking the KGB building in Babruisk on the night of October 16/17 2010. No one was injured during the attack, but the damage to the building was estimated at 253,000 rubles. The damage was compensated, but  Jauhen Vas’kovich was sentenced to 7 years in a medium security penal colony.
