(Русский) Греция: Анархист Яннис Димитракис освобожден из тюрьмы

I was, I am and I will be an anarchist. As long as I live and breathe the journey will continue —Y.Dimitrakis

Anarchist Yannis Dimitrakis was arrested, heavily wounded by cop bullets, on January 16th, 2006, after the National Bank robbery on Solonos Street, in the centre of Athens. A storm of misinformation was systematically supplied by the police and readily carried out by the mass media, as his arrest was followed by a delirious state propaganda about the alleged existence of a so-called “robbers’ in black gang”; in the days while he was still being hospitalized in the intensive care unit, the infamous “terror”-prosecutor Diotis attempted to interrogate him; his friends and relatives were targeted; and in the prosecution case against him, the anti-terrorist provision as well as charges for a number of additional robberies were included. Dimitrakis defended the particular bank robbery in which he was arrested as his political choice, as a choice based on his opposition to the blackmail of work as well as to the role of banks. In addition, from the first moment and during the entire time of his captivity he was actively present in revolts and struggles within prisons and through his writings kept a vivid contact with developments on the outside. The prosecuting mechanisms also accused and proclaimed wanted for the case three more anarchists, Simos and Marios Seisidis and Grigoris Tsironis, actually reaching the point of placing a bounty on their heads in October 2009. Simos Seisidis has been acquitted both in the trial for the outrageous case of “robbers’ in black gang” and the trial for attempted murder (!) against the same cop who shot him in the leg. Nevertheless, Simos is still under pretrial detention in the “hospital” of Koridallos prisons, waiting to stand one last trial, while Marios Seisidis and Grigoris Tsironis are fugitives to this day. The outcome of Dimitrakis’ trial in the first degree, in July 2007, was an exterminating sentence of 35 years. During his appeal court, in December 2010, his sentence was reduced to 12.5 years. Finally, after being incarcerated six whole years, the comrade was released from prison on parole.

Nizhny Novgorod criminal case – Interview with Artem Bystrov, framed Anti-Fascist activist

On April 26, 2011, in the morning, six young people were arrested by Center “E” detectives (so-called “Anti-Extremist” cops). Five anti-fascists of Nizhny Novgorod were subject to home-searches. One of the flats was stormed by OMON (Special Police Squad), the windows were broken because nobody was at home.

During the searches the membership cards of a non-existing organisation “RASH-Antifa” with photos and serial numbers, evidently made by Center “E” (Anti-Extremist Center) detectives, were planted in suspects’ homes.

Interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyI_3shZaMg

Currently funds are needed for court costs of Nizhni Novgorod anti-fascists. If you are interested to help, you may contact Nizhni Novgorod ABC directly:

Alinevich: KGB remand prison chief proposed to work for them as hacker

Alinevich: KGB remand prison chief proposed to work for them as hacker

In his note from the prison the political prisoner tells about tortures and his choice.

In a letter from prison to his sister Ihar Alinevich described humiliating treatment in prison, “Nasha Niva” informs.

“…After the Square massive crackdown started. Lots of punishers in masks were sent to the remand prison. They were roaring all the time, searches were held regularly. It was frightening into compliance.

After the New Year I was beaten three times after I disobeyed humiliating orders.

The initiator of this “creativity” was the chief of the KGB remand prison, Arlou (Orlov), believes political prisoner Alinevich. “They seized our TV set. Then they returned it, but only showed programmes about some mystical things, Chechens, Judeo-Masonic conspiracy, and so on. It pressed on one’s mind, but we were made to watch these programmes compulsorily. (more…)

Incarceration conditions of Belarusian anarchists

The 6 people we support are all distributed among different penal facilities. In our country it depends on how grave the offense is. The offense can be ‘of no particular risk for society’ – up to 2 years of imprisonment, ‘misdemeanor’ – up to 6 years, ‘felony’ – up to 12 years, ‘especially grave crime’ – more than 12 years of prison.

Among penal facilities the most spread are penal colonies and prisons. Penal colonies have different regimes – common, reinforced, strict and maximum security. Those who committed a misdemeanor for the 1st time go to a common regime colony, those who committed a felony or misdemeanor for the 2nd time go to a reinforced regime colony, recidivists go to strict and maximum security colonies. The difference in regime is only in the amount of benefits and rights prisoners have – that is the number of dates, the amount of food and cloths supply from the outside per year, the sum of money which prisoners can spend per month and so on. Mikalai Dziadok is in a common regime penal colony and he has the right for 3 long-term (up to 3 days) dates and 3 short-term (up to 4 hours) dates a year, 120 kilos of additional food per year and about 20 euros of expenses per month. For the violations of the rules he has already been deprived of 60 kilos of food, one short-term date and his expenses are cut to 3 euros per month for half a year; his long-term dates are cut to 1 day only.

"Cubrick" - dwelling in a penal colony

Alexandr Frantskevich, Ihar Alinevich, Pavel Syramolatau, Artsiom Prakapenka are in a penal colony with reinforced regime and have the same conditions minus 1 long-term date and only 17 euros of expenditures. For the violations of the rules inside the colony Alexandr Frantskevich was deprived of 1 short-term and 1 long-term date. Ihar Alinevich is obliged to pay off the damage inflicted by the crime, that’s why he has only 3 euros of monthly expenditures and his long dates are all cut to 1 day for the rest of his sentence.

Prisoners in winter

Jauhen Vas’kovich was in a reinforced colony before, but after different rule violations he was moved to a prison.

Colonies are guarded places with different buildings – canteen, sleeping barracks, sports ground, etc., where prisoners can go outside (still inside the colony territory), meet other prisoners, work, play sports and so on. In colonies prisoners have to work, but there are some colonies where there’s no production and they just hang around. A prison is a guarded building where prisoners sit in cells for 6-10 people each and have the right to walk for 1 hour a day. They don’t work and can’t meet other prisoners apart from their cell. Long-term dates are forbidden, 1-2 (depending on the regime) short-term dates are allowed.

Sewing production in a penal colony

Dates are allowed only for relatives. Books are allowed only from the prison library or from 2 book parcels a year (2 kg each). Radical literature and print-outs are censored.

Attack of the police on “Syrena” last night

Police officers illegaly interrogated to the autnomous social centre “Syrena” during the presentation of the video dedicated to the repressions of the anti authoritan activists in Belarus When we were presenting the project of the library “Rebel Studies Library” in the Warsaw in the autonomous occupied social center “Syrena”, where we have showed movies about repressions of the belarussian anti authoritan activists ( http://abc-belarus.org/?p=503〈=en) police officers illegally interrogated and started to make search and check the papers.

Police officer in civilian dress attacked one of the guy from “Syrena” hitting him in the face as a reply to the question what was the reason of illegal interrogation.

Police officers jumped over the fence and forced open the door breaking it justifying that it wasn’t just a regular routine check. Probably, police officers wanted to make this illegal intervention with alleged cause just to show people that are politically active, on one hand, belarussian activists that are right now in a jail (that evening was dedicated to the solidarity with this people), on the other hand, polish activists, helping the ordinary people, that it’s not good to change the world in a manner of undermining authorities and it’s not profitable to be a person, that is struggling not in a traditional political way (not joining the official organizations) in any political system.

In the past few months collective “Syrena” along with residents of Warsaw been pretty heavily involved in the city politics of Warsaw. They have been publicly pointing to the exclusionary tactics of many of city authorities. In particular, confronting the city policy of privatization of public space and homes that were formerly owned by the city. This translates to the mass evictions of tenants, destruction of public parks and closing down of small business to make way for the gentrification. Most recently, in the beginning of october, they have re-opened public library on international tenant’s day. And three weeks ago they’ve re-opened Bar Mleczny “Prasowy”.

Andy and Sean both released on a tag! Austen, Phil and Ravi still inside

We are very pleased to be able to announce that two of the UK antifascists sent down last year were released on 30/12/11 on ‘Home Detention Curfew’ (electronic ‘tag’). We wish sean Cregan and Andy Baker the very best of luck and hope that they can successfully rebuild their lives. Thank you to the many groups and individuals who have allowed us to properly support these comrades. For the moment, the other three antifascists sentenced in relation to the same case remain inside and in need of support.
